Honey PayPal is being sued by YouTuber and lawyer LegalEagle in response to recent findings about the company’s reportedly deceptive practices.
The PayPal-owned browser extension recently came under fire following an investigation by YouTuber MegaLag, who claimed that Honey was poaching money from affiliate link purchases.
LegalEagle published a video to YouTube, claiming that he was filing a class-action lawsuits against Honey for scamming creators.
‘On behalf of creators everywhere, I’ve filed a class-action lawsuit to stop it.’
The claimed damages are:
Intentional Interference with Contract Relations
Intentional Interference with Prospective Economic Relations
Unjust Enrichment
Violation of California’s Unfair Competition Law, Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 17200
Conversion (a form of stealing where assets ‘change hands’)
In his video, LegalEagle states it’s his intention is to give money back to the creators that Honey has allegedly scammed, and also aims to cease Honey’s method of taking money from affiliates.
‘Equally important, we’re suing for an injunction to stop Honey’s practices in the future. ’
