Today saw the announcement of Astartes II under the rebranded Digital Bones YouTube channel.
YouTuber Syama Pedersen rose to fame with Astartes, a series of fanmande Warhammer 40K short animations that went viral, garnering millions of views before Warhammer owner Games Workshop partnered with him in 2021.
This trailer is the second Digital Bones video posted today, with the first being a promotional video of the new channel. The same trailer was also posted to the official Warhammer YouTube channel.
This will be the first project Pedersen has worked on in the Warhammer universe since the original series concluded in 2020.
“The Warhammer Studio and the creator of the original Astartes animation, Syama, have been working closely together, blending his incredible flair for action and storytelling with decades of Warhammer 40,000 lore to unleash a compellingly grimdark story.
“This teaser trailer is not actually clips from the new animation, instead showing a compilation of shots that represent the former lives of the characters that will appear in the show. There’s a pretty unsubtle hint at the end as to the nature of the final story... We’ll leave you to speculate and start putting the pieces together yourselves.”
Games Workshop have also hinted that more animations set in the Warhammer 40k universe is on the way, along with Henry Cavill’s live-action movie which is currently in the works.
Astartes II will release sometime in 2026.
